NED University of Engineering and Technology in Karachi
The oldest university in the public sector is the NED University of Engineering & Technology in Karachi. Prince Wales Engineering College was founded in 1921. The college was occasionally titled NED Government Engineering College.

Muhammad Ali Jinnah University Karachi
Since 1985, The Punjab Group of Colleges has provided education to the neighbourhood. The committee gave the name Mohammad Ali Jinnah University to an ambitious project as a tribute to the nation’s founding father. In 1998, the Sindhi government granted Mohammad Ali Jinnah University a charter.

A public medical school called the Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) is situated in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. Sir Hugh Dow, the former Governor of Sindh, founded it in 1945. Federal Urdu University of Arts Science and Technology in Karachi

Ziauddin University in Karachi
His daughter and son-in-law established Ziauddin University in 1986 as a way to honour Sir Dr Ziauddin Ahmad. The Pakistan Nursing Council has certified the school of nursing since its founding in 1986. Since changing its name to the College of Nursing in 2009, the organization has provided a range of graduate and undergraduate programmes. In August 1994, the Sindh government gave its approval for the Dr Ziauddin Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences to be established.

Jinnah University for Women in Karachi
The Sindh Assembly passed a law creating Jinnah University for Women on January 22, 1998, and it was then published as Special Gazette No. M-324 with the approval of Governor Sindh, as evidenced by this letter dated June 2, 1998. It is the first women’s university in the private sector.
The University is strategically located in the centre of the city and is easily reached by public transportation from all areas of the city. The University’s buildings, which cover an area of more than 5.5 acres, house the administrative team, the deans and chairs of the faculties, departments, as well as classrooms and labs.
The University’s educational structure consists of four faculties; three of them offer four-year BS and two-year master’s programs, while the fourth offers a five-year Pharm.D. degree program. Additionally, the University accepts students for M.Phils./M.S. and PhD programmes in a few disciplines.
A direct descendant of Sheikh Saleem Uddin Chishti, Al Haj Maulvi Rayaz Uddin Ahmed (Tagma-e-Imtiaz) was born in the Taj Mahal, the city of thinkers and poets, in 1906. Despite being forced into government service, his early upbringing from his parents and education fostered a passion for learning in him.
He believed that female education was of the utmost importance during that period of conventional thinking and customary morals. Although his radical ideas ran counter to the accepted wisdom of the day, he remained steadfast in his commitment to promoting women’s literacy.
He established the Anjuman-e-Islamia Trust, which paved the way for the establishment of other educational institutions. In some ways, he was the forerunner of Muslim women’s education in this field.
There have been 12 PhDs in the arts and sciences from the JUW thus far. There are 16 PhD students and 53 M.S. students enrolled at this time. Additionally, all laboratories have the necessary science and pharmacy equipment. The Department of Computer Science has five fully functional computer labs. The university also has a central library that has been around for a while and has more than 35 books.
